When a child lives for months in a refuge, or for whatever reason is not fortunate to go on fun trips out – like their friends do, the opportunity to go to a children’s activity centre, like Mead Open Farm, in Bedfordshire, can make a significant difference to their wellbeing.
Opening exclusively for KidsOut’s, this amazing centre located in Billington, gave 230 disadvantaged children a chance to meet other children facing similar challenges, and make friends during a three-hour, action packed, summer party.
For the first time for some, children were able to meet amongst many other animals, the farm’s ponies, rabbits, goats, and pigs. For many others, including parents and carers, it was also the first time they had seen an alpaca up close. The centre also boasts a large adventure playground, where activities, like go-karting, water zorbing, crazy golf, and a huge foam party (pictured), provided the children with a day of carefree, memory-making, fun.
As the children left for the day, with the exception of one little girl in tears as she didn’t want to leave the rabbits, every child was smiling.
Mead Open Farm is one of many incredible organisations in the UK who generously help KidsOut create happy memories for thousands of children who need it most.
