Ways to help as an individual

Thanks to kind people like you, thousands of children who have never owned a new toy, or seen the sea, or gone to the cinema, get to experience what other children take for granted. Here are some ways to help

Loyalty Scheme

KidsOut’s Loyalty Scheme is designed to reward regular supporters of the charity

Our Loyalty Scheme participants receive quarterly updates on how their donations are being spent.

The Loyalty Scheme has four levels with varying rewards and benefits.

Fundraising Ideas

Making a real difference to the lives of vulnerable children needn’t be tough work!

There are so many fun ways to fundraise; from a sponsored wear-your-pyjamas-to-work day to hosting an afternoon tea, from offering to wash cars to a bake sale.

For lots more ideas download our Fund-Raising Pack.

Donations

All donations make a difference

Donating to KidsOut does not have to mean giving thousands of pounds (although we wouldn’t say no) as all donations, large or small, will make a difference to the children we support.

The Giving Tree

Our famous gift donation shop means you choose what you want to gift a child.

From a cuddly toy to a Fun Day at a theme park, our year-round shop means children will be smiling all thanks to your kindness.

The Giving Tree was established in 2008 and gives individuals, companies and schools the opportunity to buy a toy or fun day for a vulnerable child or children. At Christmas time the charity ensures that every child in a refuge receives toys or gifts to open on Christmas morning.

Volunteering

From packing toy boxes to helping make over a refuge, there are always ways to get involved

Supporting thousands of children from right across the UK means we rely heavily on the help of wonderful volunteers who give their time to make a real difference. Whether you would like to volunteer as an individual, with a group of friends, or perhaps you could ask your employer if they would like to join us as part of their organisation’s Corporate Social Responsibility activities, there is always a way to help.

Young Ambassadors

Our Young Ambassadors are an extension of the KidsOut Team and are role models for our younger generation of supporters and fundraisers

They support KidsOut in a range of ways, usually by bringing people closer to the work of KidsOut through sharing their inspiring stories, and demonstrating the impact of our programmes. They volunteer their time to motivate our donors and funders, so we can provide support for more young people.

Legacy Donations

Leaving a gift in your will

A gift in your will could help transform children’s lives. Your lasting legacy could help ensure KidsOut can support vulnerable children when it’s needed for generations to come. Whatever adverse challenges they’re facing, KidsOut will make sure children are safe, healthy and happy and help them to achieve incredible things.

Buy a child a gift

Buying a gift or happy memory for a vulnerable child

Last year we provided over 200,000 toys and books to disadvantaged children and took over 57,000 children on a fun day out.

Donate your surplus tech

Your surplus tech can change children’s lives

Hand-held devices are vital to help families in refuge regain their independence. Laptops and mobile phones are not only a means to keep in touch with friends and family when in refuge, they are also vital for children if they are to remain in education.

Hold a Teddy Bears’ picnic

National Teddy Bears’ Picnic Day July 10th

Teddy Bears’ Picnic Week July 8th – 14th, 2024

KidsOut has teamed up with the fantastic children’s charity, Bear Force to create a fabulous reason for people to hold their picnic this National Teddy Bears’ Picnic Day, July 10th.

With adults and children all across the country enjoying picnics to celebrate National Teddy Bears’ Picnic Week, 8th-14th July , the two charities are asking everyone to use the occasion to walk and talk, and importantly listen to what’s on their children’s minds.
