This July saw people of all ages celebrate the National Teddy Bears’ Picnic.
From July 8th – 14th, the children’s charities Bear Force and KidsOut, teamed up to highlight the importance of children talking about their worries.
The largest Teddy Bears’ Picnic took place at Manchester Airport Visitor Runway Park, with children enjoying storytelling inside the world famous, supersonic plane, Concorde. The book, Bear Force, was read to children by TV personality, Jeremy Spake.
As part of the promotion of the picnic, people were asked to consider contributing towards the cost of a fun experience for a child living in refuge this summer. With fun days out starting from as little as £10 from The Giving Tree Shop, often the experiences donated are the only fun event that children in refuge have to look forward to during the long holidays.
Whilst the National Teddy Bears’ Picnic Day is an annual event, Manchester Airport, plus other venues, are planning more Teddy Bears’ Picnics later on this year.
