Iconic plaques celebrating legends from the music industry to be auctioned to help disadvantaged children

The famous Brighton Pier, which attracts over 5 million visitors every year, is saying farewell to one of its popular attractions.

Local internationally acclaimed songwriter and record producer, David Courtney, who has worked with many music legends, included Sir Paul McCartney, Roger Daltrey, Eric Clapton, and David Gilmour, introduced the Brighton Music Walk of Fame to the Pier with 40 interactive plaques to pay homage to the many music artists and musicians from across the Sussex region all of which hold a close association with the City. The Great British Walk of Fame Ltd, the trademark owners, decided to remove the plaques from the Peir in advance of plans to re-locate and establish a new phase of the Brighton Walk of Fame in the city centre in 2025

The artists, which include Abba, Rag n Bone Man, and The Who, are just some of the acts featured across the 40 plaques that will soon be removed. The unique plaques were presented to music legends over several years, at annual award ceremonies, and were originally interactive, linking users to online visual and audio content.

Once removed from the pier they are likely to be sold via an online auction site to reach the maximum number of potential buyers. Proceeds from sales will be donated to the ‘Kids Out’ charity which David Courtney is a Patron.

David said he is delighted to be able to help the charity and hope that interest in acquiring a piece of Brighton’s history, will be considerable.
