KidsOut are moved by the generosity of teenager, Jasmine Kay Rose, 19, for using her savings to buy toys for children who might otherwise have nothing to open this Christmas.
Jasmine, aged 19, from Lincolnshire, who is disabled, said as a child growing up she wanted for nothing. Her mother made sure she had toys at Christmas and birthdays and it wasn’t until she was 14 years old that she realised how lucky she and her siblings were. She said, “Since the age of 14 I have dreamed of helping children who are not as fortunate as me. I keep a little a bit of money for myself each month and save the rest so I can help the children. These toys have taken me a year to save for.”
Jasmine’s mother, Kay, contacted KidsOut to ask if the charity would be able to allocate the toys to children within the county as her sitting room was full and it was becoming impossible to sit on their sofa anymore. The toys will be distributed to several women’s refuges based in Lincolnshire which will mean mothers will be able to gift a toy to their children this Christmas.
A spokesperson for KidsOut, said, “Jasmine wasn’t looking for any thanks for what she had done but we just couldn’t let that happen. She is an incredible young woman, and thanks to her generosity many children who have experienced trauma and are living in women’s refuges will have some wonderful new toys to open on Christmas Day.”
