Stars of sport attended the opening of a new sensory room for children with special educational needs.
Legendary footballer, Leigh Bromby, who played for Leeds United, along with Harrogate Town Captain, Josh Falkingham, opened the KidsOut funded unit in Leeds, which will help children improve their communication skills memory, and comprehension.
CEO of KidsOut, Sara Williams said. “The sensory room is more than just a space, it is a haven designed to provide comfort, stimulation and solace to those who need it most. For individuals with sensory processing disorders, autism, non-verbal, anxiety and other conditions, this room offers a place where they can explore and relax in a safe controlled environment.”
The units, work by stimulating the body’s many senses and have been proven to also improve speech and language development. The Bradford room has been equipped with state-of-the-art technology and carefully chosen materials to ensure it meets the diverse needs of the children. From soothing lights and sounds to tactile experiences and visuals, every element has been thoughtfully integrated to support therapeutic outcomes and personal growth.
We would like to thank everyone involved who has made this possible, including those who gave so generously at the Leeds KidsOut Question of Sport event.
