We were thrilled to host a Halloween treat Fun Day at the Mexican Embassy for children living in refuge. The event, ‘Come to Mexico’ combined the excitement of Halloween with the vibrant colours, music, and traditions of Mexican culture, creating a truly magical afternoon.
Highlights included fun and creativity, starting with a Coco-themed cinema party where the children came together to enjoy the beloved film, sharing popcorn, laughter, and becoming immersed in the heart-warming story and colourful animation.
This was followed by Mexican-inspired arts and crafts, with children getting hands-on as they created their own decorations, masks, and artwork inspired by traditional designs, with a few fun Halloween twists too — it was wonderful to see their creativity shine.
Everyone also enjoyed a light finger-food buffet, giving them a welcome energy boost between activities, and to round off the celebration, each child went home with a goodie bag full of fun items to remember the day.
The afternoon was filled with smiles, laughter, and music, and it was heart-warming to see the children so fully engaged, dancing, crafting, and enjoying the festivities. For many, this Fun Day offered a rare moment to just be children, have fun, and feel celebrated.
We are so grateful to the Mexican Embassy for welcoming us and helping create an unforgettable experience for these amazing children.
