KidsOut’s Cardiff Question of Entertainment Gala Dinner had a great turnout and was extremely successful, raising a record amount of over £59,000 for the charity’s work with disadvantaged children throughout Wales. Over 350 people from Cardiff-based companies joined KidsOut at The Celtic Manor Resort and Hotel for a night of fun and fundraising on Friday 8th October 2021.

Presenter Mike Osman hosting the event

KidsOut were thrilled to welcome presenter Mike Osman as quizmaster, evening host and auctioneer. There were more special guests in attendance, including the band Lights Out who performed live throughout the evening. Congratulations to Rapidgrid Ltd who won the Champions League tropthy and Downie Drywall who won the Europa League trophy. Both teams were well-deserved victors of the interactive sports quiz!

In addition to the main quiz, guests could take part in two auctions. There were some fantastic items up for grabs in the silent auction and main auctions, including two tickets to a Cardiff City match including lunch and hospitality, a helicopter ride over London, a Real Madrid football shirt hand signed by Gareth Bale, an overnight stay including dinner with wine tour and tasting at a vineyard, and Wales vs New Zealand tickets for the Autumn Nation Rugby Series at the celebrated Principality Stadium. One of the most exclusive items on sale was a secluded villa in Cyprus for two people, where the location provided fantastic views of the Troodos mountains, a private pool, and the ability to hand pick fresh fruits and vegetables from the extensive gardens. The KidsOut team are sure the winners of the charity raffle and auctions will enjoy their fabulous prizes.

Barratt Homes presenting KidsOut with a cheque of £22,000

Each year KidsOut offer awards to people or companies for their outstanding support and contributions to the charity. This year’s award was presented to Barratt Homes South Wales for ‘Wales Company of the Year’ in recognition of their longstanding support and tireless commitment to KidsOut’s work and mission. They very generously chose to match the amount raised at their annual Charity Golf Day and presented KidsOut with a cheque of £22,000 at event. Lee Williams was also presented with an award for ‘Wales Volunteer of the Year’ for his work and cycling fundraising venture from Land’s End to John O’Groats.

We’d like to congratulate both David Kelland and Nicola Woods on becoming our latest Lifetime Ambassadors, a truly deserved award showcasing their dedication to KidsOut and all that we do.

KidsOut would like to say a huge thank you to the Gala’s event committee, as the Question of Entertainment event would not have been possible without their help and support. The KidsOut team also wanted to thank the following sponsors of the event: Bell Contracting (main sponsor), Neal Remediation (main auction sponsor), Designer Contracts (drinks reception sponsor), W D Lewis (event programme sponsor), R E Plant Hire (team scarves sponsor) and Downie Drywall (higher & lower sponsor). The money raised at this event will be used as vital funds to continue to supply Fun Days and Toy Boxes to disadvantaged children in Cardiff and the surrounding areas, helping KidsOut bring fun and happiness to disadvantaged children who need it most.

The date of the next KidsOut Bristol gala dinner is soon to be announced. Be sure to stay up-to-date with the charity’s social media channels for an official announcement soon!
